Michigan’s rally against Duke falls short, 73-71

The Michigan Wolverines mounted a furious rally but still fell short in a 73-71 loss to the Duke Blue Devils.

Michigan had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but a floater bounced off the back of the rim.

The Wolverines hung around the entire game and even managed to rally back after falling behind by 13 in the second half.

In fact, there were a few times when Duke went on a run and looked set on putting the game away only for Michigan to crawl right back into it. ( Read More…)

Michigan crushes Tennessee, 75-45

The Michigan Wolverines looked very impressive in a 75-45 dismantling of the Tennessee Volunteers.

A close game at halftime turned into a blowout in the second half as the Wolverines played great at both ends of the floor.

The Wolverines have been playing really good basketball for the past month or so, turning around what was a terrible start in Big 10 play.

Their outside shooting and complex defenses are enough to throw off any opponent, especially in a tournament format. ( Read More…)

By Bud L. Ellis

A 20-win season and a .500 record in the Big Ten Conference was enough to earn the Michigan Wolverines an eight seed in the NCAA tournament.

Michigan falls to Ohio State, 68-61

The Michigan Wolverines mounted a late rally but it was too little, too late in a 68-61 loss to the rival Ohio State Buckeyes.

Michigan trailed by 12 with just a minute to play and got it down to five, but couldn’t get any closer from there.

Darius Morris lead the way with 16 points while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in 15.

The Wolverines will now sit on pins and needles waiting for Selection Sunday and hoping they will hear their name called. ( Read More…)

Rodriguez felt Wolverines were making progress

Former Michigan Wolverines head coach Rich Rodriguez said he felt the program was starting to take off just as he was fired.

The university certainly did not share those same feelings, deciding to make a change after just three years.

Rodriguez cited the fact that he had 24 returning players plus the league’s player of the year, who was only a sophomore.

He also felt that recruiting was going very well, and said it was frustrating to not have a chance to finish the job. ( Read More…)

Michigan snags Ravens’ Mattison

The Michigan Wolverines have filled another position on their staff, hiring Greg Mattison to be their defensive coordinator.

Head coach Brady Hoke is very familiar with Mattison, who has been a part of his staff in the past.

Mattison spent two years with the Baltimore Ravens as their defensive coordinator after leaving the Florida Gators.

He has a passion for the college game and enjoys the recruiting process, which explains why he left the Ravens. ( Read More…)

Forcier to leave Michigan

Michigan Wolverines quarterback Tate Forcier has finally decided to leave the school, a move that seemed inevitable.

The school’s athletic director even went as far as to announce Forcier was no longer with the program when he held a news conference for the new head coach.

He was ruled academically ineligible in the bowl game, but his father made a trip to Ann Arbor to see if his son would get another crack at the starting job.

Meanwhile, starting quarterback Denard Robinson said he contemplated leaving as well but has decided to stay. ( Read More…)

Michigan hires Hoke

The Michigan Wolverines have hired San Diego State head coach Brady Hoke to replace Rich Rodriguez.

The school contacted LSU’s Les Miles, but he turned them down because Michigan wasn’t the place it once was when he was there.

This is certainly not a home run hire for Michigan, which really wanted to land former Wolverine Jim Harbaugh.

Hoke is a former Michigan assistant, so he does have some ties to Ann Arbor, but it isn’t a hire that will excite the fanbase. ( Read More…)

Michigan fires Rodriguez

The Michigan Wolverines have fired head coach Rich Rodriguez after three disappointing seasons.

Rodriguez and Michigan never seemed like a good fit, and he never seemed to win over the school or fans.

Michigan is pushing hard to bring in former Wolverine Jim Harbaugh, but he doesn’t seem to be interested in the job.

A lot of potential coaching candidates aren’t particularly interested in the job because of the crazy expectations that come with it. ( Read More…)
